a) Facilio Java Agent

i) Facilio Java Agent Installation

1) Pre-requisites

If you have opted for Facilio’s Java Agent installation in your facility, the following prerequisites will be required –

  • A system with operating system Windows 8 or above, Linux UBUNTU and Mac (10 and above). 
  • A minimum of 4 GB RAM and 80 GB hard disk space. 
  • Oracle JDK 8 or Open JDK should be available or installed in the system.
  • Next, you will need to place the Authentication Certificate files and the config file under USER_HOME/facilio directory. You will get the certificate files from Facilio Inc once you have signed the contract. Please download them from your email.

2) Installing the Java Agent

Follow the steps listed below to install the Java Agent –

  • Download and install JDK 8 (Java Development Kit) from this link.
  • Download the Facilio agent installer from this link.
  • Double click to open the installer (FacilioAgentInstaller.exe).  Accept the agreement and click on Next.
  • Choose the installation location and click on Next.
  • Uncheck the option ‘Create a desktop shortcut’ and click on Next.
  • Click Install in the next screen.
  • Options ‘Run uninstallService.bat’ and ‘Run installService.bat’ should be checked.
  • Next, click on Finish.
  • Close all the consoles opened during installation.

3) Certificates and Configuration Files

The certificate and configuration files that you must have received from Facilio needs to be copied to the following location – c:\Users\<current-user>\facilio

4) Starting the Java Agent

Now that the Java Agent is installed in the system, you will need to login to the Facilio cloud. 

Note: You will receive the login credentials and the login URL for agent configuration from Facilio after the contract is signed.

  • Open Task Manager and click on the ‘Services’ tab.
  • Search for Facilio Agent and then right-click on it and then click on Start. Facilio application will open and from here on you can start the agent configuration process.
  • In Facilio application, head to Settings > Agent Configuration > Agents.
  • On this page, the entire list of agents that are being installed for your organization account can be seen. You should be able to see the agent that you just installed in the list of names.

5) How to check whether the agent is up and running?

If the Agent name is not available in the list, you will need to check for troubleshooting. Firstly, check whether the agent is active.

  • Open the Task Manager and click on the ‘Processes’ tab.
  • Search for a process named ‘Facilio Agent’. (It will take about 3 to 5 minutes to begin)
  • If the process begins successfully that means the agent is running successfully.

6) Troubleshooting Tips

If the agent is not running, here are a few troubleshooting tips that you can try –

  • Check whether the Java environment variable is set correctly. (Note: You can follow this link for assistance).
  • If the service is installed but the Facilio agent is not starting you can open Task Manager, go to Services tab and stop the service. Next, go to the Processes tab and stop any Facilio process that is running. Lastly, go to the Details tab and stop any java.exe that is running. Finally, you can restart the service.
  • If the agent is up and running but is not pushing any data to the cloud, please check whether the certificate and the config files are placed in the right location.
  • If the none of the above is working, please mail the below-mentioned log files to this email id – support@facilio.com
    1. C:\Users\<current-user>\facilio\logs\agentlog
    2. C:\Program Files (x86)\Facilio\Logs\servicelog

After the installation is complete you can open Facilio application and continue the agent configuration. You can click here to continue the configuration process in Facilio.
