Add different types of cards to your dashboard to track and monitor readings, status, live data, and other information.

a) How to add a card in your Dashboards?

Cards are data bulletins that can be used for a variety of purposes. You can keep an eye on the status of an asset, specific readings, weather (humidity, temperature, carbon emission, and many others, live data, monitoring readings of high-value and sensitive assets, certain KPI index readings that require tracking, etc.

i) Using Cards

You can add different types of cards to monitor varying parameters. For the cards, you can select the format, style, color, trends that you wish to display in these cards. Most cards will have a few of these features or all, depending on the nature of data that is being displayed. A few of the features that are present in these cards are the following, and they can be used accordingly –

1. Config

This feature allows you to configure the data that you wish to see on the card. The parameters of this feature will vary depending on what kind of card you wish to add to the report. We will discuss this in detail for each card.

2. Styles

Styles feature allows you to tweak the colors of the card and style it visually. This feature provides different options in various cards, accordingly.

    • Tweak the colors and hues of the widgets with a wide palette. 
    • In some cards, options to change the background color of the card and edit font colors for primary and secondary text are present. 
    • For maps, you can select different map icons and change the icon color accordingly. 

3. Actions

Actions feature provides us with ‘Call to Action’ (CTA) options for the card. Here you can add the following actions –

    • Show Trend: When you click on the card, it will open the trend report for the asset/space.
    • Control Action: You can add control points for the card that would allow you to change or update the readings based on the data that is being displayed on the card. For example, if the temperature on the floor is too high, you can configure control points that would allow you to configure the AHU setting accordingly.
    • Link to – You can also link the card to a report or a link and configure it to open in the same tab or a different window, etc.
    • None – Select None if you do not wish to add a Call to Action.

4. Formatting

The formatting feature allows you to tweak the data based on conditions and rules. It provides you with options that would allow you to view or get alerted about an asset’s condition, impending breakdown or disruption.

For example, this feature can be effectively used in the Gauge card or the KPI card. If the reading crosses a certain threshold, the card can be displayed in a different color, which will be a visual cue for the Facility Manager to investigate an asset or space, immediately.

    • Click on the Conditional Rule option. A tabbed window will open where you can add criteria for the card.
    • Select the conditions under which the formatting of the card should change. For example, if the temperature reading goes beyond a threshold figure, the primary text of the card can be displayed in red or a different color that would differentiate it from normal. You can also change the background color of the card or the font color of the secondary value. 
    • Select the Blink option and the data in the card will blink providing you with a visual cue that would be hard to miss.

ii) Adding Cards

To add a card in your dashboard, select the Add Card option given in the right header. A pop-up window will open providing you options to add different types of cards.

1. Gauge

These widgets can help you keep an eye on specific data in relation to assets or space. For e.g., if you wish to keep an eye on the Airflow coil differential pressure of a FAHU, you can create a card for the same specifying the period of time for which the data needs to be displayed. 

To add a Gauge card to the report – 

    • You will have to select a pre-defined layout. Depending on the asset that you are monitoring, a layout can be selected.
    • The Gauge card has four tabs – Config, Styles, Actions, and Formatting.
    • In the Config tab –
      • Add a title for the card
      • Select the space/asset. If it is space, select a specific floor, building or site that you wish to track. Select the reading, period, etc.
    • Next set the safe limit for Reading. 
      • Safe limits are basically the threshold values that you wish to set for that particular reading. 
      • Once configured, the card will visually indicate deviations in the reading in relation to the safe limit.
    • Once you add the details in the Config tab, you can move on to Styles to select the color scheme that you wish to add on the card.
    • Select the Action Type that you wish to set for the card.
    • Add conditional formatting with criteria that would visually change the style of the card to indicate an alert or an impending breakdown. You can add multiple conditional formatting with the criteria for the card.

2. Reading

This card can be used to keep an eye on the energy readings, cost, carbon emission, etc. for assets or space. Pre-defined layouts displaying multiple readings will be available here. 

    • Select the layout of your choice. Depending on the layout you select, you can configure the readings that you wish to display on the card. For example, Maximum, Average and Minimum temperatures or energy readings, etc.
    • Provide a title for the card.
    • Select the readings for the asset or space that you wish to display on the card.
    • Next, select the period.
    • Move to Styles tab to configure the font colors of primary, secondary text and the background color of the card.
    • Lastly configure a CTA (call to action) at Actions tab, for the card by adding control points, trends or an external link.

3. Maps

Maps can give you an overall perspective of what happening in all your buildings. You can add a map of all your sites/buildings/assets and see the number of alarms or work orders generated. This will give you an overall view of what’s happening in all your buildings on any given day. To add a map –

  • Provide a title for the map.
  • Select the location moduleSite/Building/Assets
    • Site: This map will show all the sites and total work orders/alarms generated in each.
    • Building: This map will mark all the buildings with all your sites with information about work orders/alarms in each.
    • Assets: This map will mark all the assets that are installed in the buildings and their corresponding work orders and alarms.
  • You can next, move onto the Styles tab to configure the theme, icons, and colors.

4. Weather

This widget gives overall information about the weather at a particular site. 

  • Select the site name from the dropdown.
  • The layout is pre-selected for different time zones as indicated below.

5. Carbon

Carbon emissions are a critical parameter that is being monitored in most facilities today. Keeping an eye on this reading helps to meet sustainability goals for the facility.

  • Select the asset/site for which carbon emission needs to be tracked.
  • Select the period, for which you wish to add the data.
  • The Carbon Multiplication Factor will be displayed by default depending on the timezone of your facility. You can also adjust the same based on recent readings.

6. Energy Layout

This energy layout card provides you options to create a card for carbon emission and energy cost for a building/site or a specific asset. You can also compare the readings with historical data from varying periods (Year/quarter, week, month…)

  • Add a title for the card.
  • Select an image (if available)
  • Next, select the site/asset to view the reading. Select what type of reading needs to be displayed and the format (average, sum, maximum, minimum, etc.)
  • Choose a period to see the reading from and select a baseline to compare these readings.
  • Configure Actions (Show Trend, add Control Points, link) as required.

7. Energy Cost

Tracking energy costs is critical to any facility. In this card, you can monitor the energy cost for an asset or a site over a particular period. 

  • In the Config tab, select space/asset to add a Reading.
  • Select Energy and the type of data you wish to display (Sum, Average, Maximum, Minimum, etc.)
  • Next, select the period (month, week, quarter, year, etc.)
  • The Cost Multiplication Factor will be available by default. You can change it according to your Timezone or area. 
  • Configure Actions (Show Trend, add Control Points, link) as required.

8. Live Data

You can track live data of an asset and monitor its readings, especially if the asset has been malfunctioning recently.

  • Add a title.
  • Select the asset that needs to be monitored.
  • Select what readings you wish to track for the asset.
  • A list of icons is available in a dropdown that can be added to the card to represent the reading. Once added, a preview of the card can be seen. 
  • Tweak the card by opting for Show Labels or Show Icons options.

9. Control Command

The Control Command card allows you to add control points or control groups of assets/space that can be managed directly from the dashboard. To add this card –

    • In the Config tab, first, add a title for the card.
    • Select the readings for assets or space.


    • Select the Control Type that you wish to add – Control Point / Control Group and select the same from the dropdown.

Note: The Control Point/Control Group needs to be configured in the Controls & Graphics Module.

    • Once added, you can see the preview of the card. Click on Save.
    • Now, this Control Command can be used to manage the asset accordingly. For example, if you wish to switch on/off a particular asset, adjust its temperature output, change its parameters, you can do it easily through the dashboard.
    • This card can be further tweaked through the Styles tab by adding different font colors, button colors and background hues.
    • Through the Formatting tab, you can also add conditional rules that would give you visual cues when the assets cross threshold conditions.

10. KPI

These are simple text cards that can be used to monitor energy readings. Options to select different types of KPI categories are available here.

    • In the Config tab, provide a title for the card.
    • Select a Type of KPI – Reading/Module
    • Next, select the KPI Category or add a new KPI definition as per requirement.
    • Select the KPI that you need, the asset name and the type of information to be displayed (Sum, Average, Maximum, Minimum, Last Value, etc.)
    • Use the Styles tab to tweak the font colors.
    • Go to Actions tab to configure Call to action (Link URL or Control Action)
    • Head to Formatting tab to add Conditional Rule that would visually change the card’s look to give you alerts and cues in relation to asset or space.

11. PM Readings

This is a specific widget designed especially to monitor Preventive Maintenance orders. You can use this to view the number of preventive maintenance work orders that are due for a particular period.

  • Provide a title for the card
  • In the Preventive Maintenance dropdown, select the option for which you wish to see the work orders scheduled.
  • Select the Default Period and click on Save.

12. Web Card

This can be used as a quick reference to go to a particular URL. 

  • Provide a title for the card.
  • Add a URL for the link you wish to visit.

13. Image card

You can also add an image card with an image as a reference to the dashboard.
